WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS AFTER BRUNCH
SUNDAY, MAR 17 AT 3PM UNTIL TUESDAY, MAR 26 AT 3PM
Big things are happening in the world of Hola Arepa! After almost 5 years of being open in our brick & mortar restaurant space, we’re treating ourselves to some additions & upgrades that will get us ready to serve you for the next decades to come. When we opened the restaurant, we did it on the fly, with limited space & had to be pretty scrappy like many other restaurants without investors.
We’ve made miracles happen out of our tiny, beloved 2000 sq ft space. Now that we’ve had the support of our community for 5 years and know we’re not going anywhere, we’re making improvements that will help things run smoother for our staff behind the scenes & hopefully help us grow as a restaurant.
Friends, try not to panic! Hola as you know it will not be changing drastically. When we reopen, we’ll have more coveted kitchen space, a new walk-in cooler/freezer & beer cooler, tap system, an updated food & drink menu, a fresh coat of paint and a few shiny new things so we can put our best foot forward for you in 2019.
Please come in this week and get your Hola fix before the long week that we’ll be closed. Enjoy your favorite current food & drink menu items since many small plates, salads & cocktails will be changed out for new favorites when we reopen. Thanks for your support & understanding while we start an exciting new chapter of Hola Arepa together!
Hola Arepa is a restaurant in South Minneapolis serving our take on Latin street food. We serve Venezuelan-style stuffed arepas, Latin American-influenced small plates, and tropical craft cocktails.
Chef Christina Nguyen & her partner Birk Grudem started Hola Arepa as a food truck in 2011. Though the truck has been mostly in hibernation since they opened their brick & mortar restaurant in 2014, you can always enjoy their arepas, other dishes & cocktails in a space inspired by their travels to beach towns and charming old cafes in South America, Central America and Mexico.
All of our food is made from scratch with love. Arepas are made fresh every day from cornmeal dough and pattied by hand.
Arepas are cooked on a griddle until golden brown, then split open and stuffed with meats, veggies, cheeses, and homemade salsas. Arepas & most of our dishes are gluten-free.
